Treatment of Warts

Below are treatments that a doctor or professional may perform to remove your wart.  Many of these require more than one treatment.

Liquid Nitrogen - You may have heard of freezing a wart.  Your doctor can use liquid nitrogen to freeze the wart.  They use a small canister of this pressurized chemical.  It is called cryotherapy.  When the doctor performs this process heor she will only spray the wart itself.  It may cause a little discomfort but it is usually in the form of feeling a very cool sensation.  Depending on how close the wart is to a nerve you may feel more sensitivity.  This process may need to be completed every week or every few weeks to completely remove the wart.

Burning the wart - This is a more drastic treatment a doctor may do if the above does not work.  The doctor may also consider cutting the wart out as well with a laser.  This type of treatment leaves a scar and your doctor usually will talk about the risks of you opt for this type of treatment.

Yeast Injections - Sometimes the doctor chooses to inject a type of yeast just under the wart area.  This is done to promote the body's immune system to attack the yeast to kill it and in the process will also destroy the wart.  This process may take 2 to 3 treatments each month.

Here are some other treatments that you can do.  These come from my grandmother and have not been proven but are considered an old wives tale.  She insists they work and they won't hurt to try.  First of all for any of these treatments you should soak your foot or wart area in luke warm water for 30 minutes.  Here are the options to try.

Mash an aspirin and put a tiny bit of water with it and rub on the wart in a paste  - cover with duct tape and leave overnight try this for 3 weeks
Rub crushed garlic on wart and leave some on area and cover with duct tape.  Do this everyday for 2 weeks
Put vinegar on wart 4 times a day with a q-tip and let soak in
